Abstract

The Urdu Ghazal, a classical form of poetry, has undergone significant transformations over the centuries, adapting to the cultural, social, and political changes of the time. While it has retained its core structure and themes, contemporary Urdu poets have innovated by introducing new aesthetics, modern sensibilities, and global influences into the form. This article explores the evolving nature of the Urdu Ghazal in the 21st century, focusing on contemporary creations and their reception in both regional and global contexts. The study examines the ways in which the ghazal has been reinterpreted by poets, particularly in terms of language, form, and thematic depth. Furthermore, it analyzes how these modern ghazals are being received by a wider international audience, highlighting the intersection of tradition and modernity in the global literary scene.
